Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) – Device Playback & Analytics

Role Summary
A Software Development Engineer in Test within the Player Engineering – Device & Analytics team, focused on building and maintaining automated test solutions for video playback across connected devices. You will work closely with engineers and analysts to validate playback performance, ensure quality of experience, and support data-driven improvements across Smart TVs, STBs, and HTML5 platforms.
You will contribute to automation frameworks, testing strategies, and observability-driven validation, while developing expertise in video streaming technologies and device ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for validating playback across Smart TVs, STBs, and other living room platforms.
- Execute functional, integration, and performance testing for video playback features and enhancements.
- Use Conviva to analyse QoE metrics, stream performance, and user experience as part of validation workflows.
- Assist in running and validating A/B experiments to ensure playback improvements meet quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with development teams to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and improve test coverage.
- Contribute to improving test processes, automation coverage, and overall quality practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Should have 5+_ Years of Professional experience in QA, SDET, or software engineering with a focus on test automation.
- Understanding of OTT streaming concepts including HLS and DASH, HTML5 playback, and DRM systems such as Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady.
- Experience writing automated tests using tools such as Selenium or similar frameworks.
- Exposure to testing across devices such as Smart TVs, Android TV, Fire TV, or Chromecast is a plus.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript (or similar), with the ability to write maintainable test code.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build workflows.
- Working knowledge of tools such as JIRA and GitHub.
