Axiom Consulting is looking for articulate, young designers with a passion and talent for crafting thoughtful physical experiences to join their cross-functional design team in Bangalore.
Axiom is a full-spectrum product development and innovation company, headquartered out of Bangalore, with offices in Singapore, Brussels, Cincinnati, Colorado and Caracas. For over a decade we have worked with Fortune 50 companies to create compelling solutions in the areas of packaging, consumer products, process automation and special purpose devices, to name a few.
As an Industrial Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualising, designing and helping to develop innovative packaging, products and devices. The ability to research, design and help develop these products will be critical skills you will need to bring to this job.
We’re looking for T-shaped people who balance their deep understanding of their chosen domain with broad interests and abilities that go beyond their core competencies; In addition to being great at what you do, you’ve got to be a bit of a jack (or Jane) of all trades to enjoy working with Axiom. If you’re passionate, self-driven and like to take ownership of the work you do, you may be the one we’re looking for. This also implies a certain ‘social cowboy (or cowgirl)’ attitude- you love feeding off team energy but are quite capable of riding solo when needed. We’ve got to be able to throw you in the deep end of the pool and rely on your ability to learn and grow by asking the right questions.
Skill-wise, here’s what we’re looking for-
First and foremost, you should have an excellent eye for design. You should know great design when you see it, and be able to explain why it’s great (even if you didn’t create it!)
You should have a good head for retaining and processing large amounts of complex information and synthesising context-specific, elegant solutions
You need to bring a skillful, sophisticated, craftsman-like attention to detail when creating design proposals with a sound background in problem solving and form creation
You will be frequently required to drive contextual inquiry as well as user testing, either solo or in collaboration with the research specialists in our team
Lastly, you need to be an articulate verbal and written communicator
Tools-wise, you need to have-
Expert level visual communication skills. The ability to create quick, pen-and-paper solutions and lo-fi mock-ups in pinch situations will be considered critical
Expert level knowledge of digital design tools (such as Rhino, Keyshot, Photoshop, etc.) is also a must
At least a working knowledge of engineering, prototyping and manufacturing techniques, insofar as the constraints and affordances they offer to designers, is a prerequisite
A formal education in design is desirable (in fact a degree from a reputed institute could be a good start), but we’re really looking for proven experience and expertise so don’t feel shy to apply if you’re a self-made designer (or a design school drop out) as long as you’ve got what it takes. This is an entry level position, so 1-3 years experience would be a best-fit (according to us).
If you believe you’re The One, here’s what you need to send us-
A strong, compelling portfolio with proven experience and expertise in research and industrial design
A YouTube video telling us why you think you’re The One, in 120 seconds or less
You can email the links to portfolio and YouTube video to
