The Retail Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of retail fit-out and development projects, from design brief coordination to final handover. This role requires strong technical knowledge (AutoCAD, BOQ, SOR), excellent stakeholder communication (mall management, vendors, consultants), and tight control over cost, quality, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Management
- Manage retail projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timelines
- Prepare and maintain project management sheets, schedules, trackers, and reports
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors
Design & Technical Coordination
- Prepare, review, and coordinate Design Briefs with designers and stakeholders
- Review and manage AutoCAD drawings (layout, fit-out, MEP coordination)
- Ensure design compliance with brand standards, mall guidelines, and statutory requirements
Costing & Commercial Control
- Prepare and review BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and SOR (Schedule of Rates)
- Conduct cost analysis, budgeting, and value engineering
- Manage variations, approvals, and final project cost reconciliation
Mall Management & Approvals
- Act as the primary point of contact with Mall Management
- Coordinate and secure all necessary design, fit-out, and operational approvals
- Ensure compliance with mall rules, safety standards, and timelines
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Identify, evaluate, appoint, and manage vendors and contractors
- Monitor vendor performance for quality, cost, and schedule adherence
- Coordinate site activities, inspections, and snag-list closure
Communication & Reporting
- Handle all approval-related communication with malls, consultants, and authorities
- Provide regular project updates to management and stakeholders
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of BOQ, SOR, and cost control
- Experience with retail fit-out and mall projects
- Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills
- Strong communication and coordination abilities
- Good understanding of retail design, construction, and approval processes
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or related field
- 4–8 years of experience in retail project management (mall/fit-out experience preferred)
- Hands-on experience working with mall management and multiple vendors
