iPath is looking for a senior, hands-on engineering leader to take full ownership of the IT department and the DigitizeFM platform. The Managing Director has built the business over 15 years with strong commercial and client instincts but has not worked inside a structured engineering organisation and is not the right person to be making day-to-day technical or architectural calls. This role exists to close that gap completely.
The first phase of this role is about bringing structure and discipline to an existing team: clear delivery processes, technical accountability, sound architecture decisions, and a properly owned security and compliance posture. Once that foundation is solid, the role is expected to take on a larger part in shaping how DigitizeFM and the engineering function scale alongside the business.
This is a role for someone who wants to build something close to a CTO mandate over time, starting from the ground up, with real autonomy and real accountability from day one.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- 12–18 years of total experience, including at least 4–5 years in a senior technical leadership role (Engineering Manager, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, or similar) with direct ownership of a product or platform — not purely a project delivery role.
- Strong, current hands-on technical ability — comfortable reviewing code, making architecture calls, and going deep on a problem when needed. This is not a purely managerial role.
- Genuine cloud infrastructure experience, ideally AWS specifically; able to reason about scaling, performance, and cost trade-offs independently.
- Prior experience with information security frameworks (ISO 27001 or equivalent) and comfort engaging with compliance, audit, or insurance-related conversations.
- Experience managing a team of at least 15–25 engineers, with demonstrable improvements in delivery discipline, process, or team output under their leadership.
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy and reporting to a non-technical founder — able to communicate technical trade-offs in plain business terms, and to be trusted to make calls independently.
- Prior exposure to a SaaS product environment is strongly preferred; experience balancing product roadmap work against client-driven service obligations is a significant plus given iPath's combined services-and-product model.
