Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Lathe Operator with a strong background in heavy engineering manufacturing. The candidate should be capable of operating conventional lathe machines for machining industrial valve components while ensuring dimensional accuracy, productivity, and quality as per engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate conventional lathe machines for machining valve components.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and process sheets.
- Perform facing, turning, boring, threading, grooving, and taper turning operations.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and measuring instruments.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy using Vernier caliper, micrometer, bore gauge, dial gauge, and other measuring tools.
- Maintain production targets while following quality standards.
- Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow SOPs, safety guidelines, and 5S practices on the shop floor.
- Report machine abnormalities and quality issues to the supervisor.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams for smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of conventional lathe machine operations.
- Experience in machining heavy engineering or industrial valve components.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand machining tolerances.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machining parameters, and inspection instruments.
- Understanding of safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
