Job Description – Carpenter (Hotel Engineering)
Department: Engineering / Maintenance
Reports To: Chief Engineer / Engineering Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, offices, restaurants, kitchens, and back-of-house areas.
- Repair and maintain doors, door frames, wardrobes, cabinets, drawers, tables, chairs, beds, counters, and other wooden fixtures.
- Perform minor renovation, modification, and installation work as required.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood and related materials accurately.
- Repair damaged furniture and wooden surfaces, including hinges, locks, handles, and fittings.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-room work orders.
- Inspect carpentry items regularly and identify defects or potential problems.
- Coordinate with other Engineering team members when work involves electrical, plumbing, painting, or civil repairs.
- Maintain carpentry tools and equipment in safe and working condition.
- Follow hotel safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe working practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop and work area.
- Minimize disturbance to guests while carrying out maintenance work.
- Record completed maintenance jobs and report major defects or material requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs and hotel renovation projects.
- Follow hotel standards for appearance, cleanliness, and quality of workmanship.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- ITI/Trade Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent vocational training preferred.
- Previous experience as a carpenter, preferably in a hotel, resort, hospital, commercial building, or similar facility.
- Knowledge of woodworking tools, materials, fittings, and basic furniture repair.
- Ability to read basic measurements and drawings.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary Engineering team.
- Good communication and customer-service attitude.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
