Job Description – Medical Transcriptionist (Radiology)
Position: Medical Transcriptionist – Radiology Department
Job Summary: The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for accurately transcribing, formatting, and preparing radiology reports dictated by radiologists and sonologists. The role requires excellent typing skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of medical terminology to ensure timely and error-free report generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe radiology, ultrasound, CT, X-ray, and other diagnostic imaging reports
- Review and edit reports for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and proper medical terminology.
- Format reports according to hospital or departmental standards.
- Ensure timely completion and delivery of reports to the concerned departments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and data protection regulations.
- Coordinate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals regarding report clarifications.
- Manage electronic medical records and radiology information systems (RIS/PACS) as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing of reports.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in any discipline; certification in Medical Transcription is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and radiology procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hospital information systems.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
