Align Technology is looking for a highly experienced Senior Android Developer to build and maintain scalable, high-quality mobile applications for the Android platform.
As a key technical contributor, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction, architecture, and delivery strategy of Android applications. Success in this role will be measured by application quality, usability, scalability, and timely delivery in a fast-paced, multi-release environment.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure engineering excellence while actively contributing to development.
Own and drive end-to-end implementation of complex Android features and platforms, from design to release and post-production stability.- Lead and influence architecture decisions across modules and releases, ensuring scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Actively address codebase fragmentation challenges (e.g., parallel branches, refactoring vs active releases) and define sustainable strategies.
- Partner closely with Product Owners, Program Managers, Backend teams, and QA to align technical execution with business priorities.
- Drive high-quality engineering standards through strong code reviews, design discussions, and best practices.
- Identify and resolve system-level issues such as performance bottlenecks, regression risks, and production stability concerns.
- Ensure a seamless user experience across multiple Android devices and OS versions, maintaining high performance and reliability.
- Champion modern Android development practices including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, and modular architectures.
- Improve release efficiency and predictability, especially in environments with overlapping releases and shifting priorities.
- Lead technical mentoring for IC5 and senior engineers, improving team capability and accountability.
- Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, testing strategy, observability, and release processes.
- Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards in all Android implementations.
- Proactively evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and engineering practices relevant to AlignTech’s ecosystem.
Core Android Expertise
13+ years of hands-on experience building and scaling Android applications.- Strong expertise in Kotlin, with proven experience in modernising legacy Android codebases.
- Deep understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture).
- Strong hands-on experience with Jetpack libraries (Compose, Navigation, Room, WorkManager, ViewModel).
- Advanced knowledge of Coroutines, Flow, and asynchronous programming.

- Conduct strict and meaningful code reviews — not just approvals.

- Identify and highlight risks early, especially around tech debt and scalability.
