Job Title
Business Process Automation Intern – ERP / Workflow Automation
About the Role
We are looking for a Business Process Automation Intern to help us study, document, and
improve internal business processes across departments such as Operations, Accounts, HR,
Sales, Compliance, and Back Office.
The primary responsibility is to understand how work currently happens, document the
process clearly, identify automation opportunities, and assist in implementing structured
workflows using open-source ERP, BPMS, and automation platforms. AI tools may be used
where appropriate for documentation, summarization, reporting, and user assistance, but core
business processes must remain rule-based, auditable, and deterministic.
Key Responsibilities
Study existing business processes by interacting with different departments. Document current workflows, approval flows, data inputs, outputs, exceptions, and
reports. Prepare process flow diagrams, requirement notes, SOPs, and user acceptance
checklists. Identify repetitive, manual, Excel-based, email-based, or approval-heavy processes
that can be automated. Assist in evaluating and implementing open-source ERP / workflow platforms such as
ERPNext, Odoo Community, Bonita, ProcessMaker, or similar tools. Configure forms, workflows, roles, permissions, approval stages, notifications, and
basic reports. Help migrate simple manual processes into structured digital workflows. Support testing of automated workflows with business users. Maintain documentation of implemented processes and changes. Use AI tools responsibly for documentation, summarization, report drafting, and
productivity improvement where appropriate. Coordinate with business users and technical teams to ensure automation is practical,
reliable, and auditable.
Required Skills
Ability to understand business processes and ask clear questions. Good documentation and communication skills. Basic knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets. Understanding of flowcharts, process diagrams, or willingness to learn. Basic understanding of databases, forms, tables, and reports. Logical thinking and problem-solving ability. Interest in ERP, workflow automation, and business process improvement. Willingness to work with open-source platforms.
Preferred Skills
Basic SQL knowledge. Basic Python or JavaScript knowledge. Exposure to ERPNext, Odoo, Dolibarr, Bonita, ProcessMaker, n8n, Zapier, Make, or
similar tools. Understanding of APIs, JSON, webhooks, or integrations. Experience preparing SOPs, process notes, or requirement documents. Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or similar tools for
productivity use. Basic understanding of access control, maker-checker process, audit trail, and
approval workflows.
Qualification
Final-year student or recent graduate in B.Tech, BCA, MCA, B.Sc. IT, Computer
Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Operations, or related field. Candidates from commerce or management backgrounds may also apply if they have
strong process understanding and comfort with technology.
What the Intern Will Learn
Business process mapping ERP and workflow automation Requirement gathering Process documentation Low-code / no-code implementation Basic system design User acceptance testing AI-assisted productivity Automation in a financial-services environment
What We Are Not Looking For
Someone who only knows how to write AI prompts. Someone who assumes every process should be solved using ChatGPT or AI agents. Someone who cannot document requirements clearly. Someone who ignores auditability, approvals, access control, and exception handling.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is curious, structured, and practical. They should be able to sit with a
department, understand how work is done, convert that understanding into a clear process
document, and help implement the process in a deterministic ERP or workflow system. AI
knowledge is welcome, but business-process understanding and disciplined documentation
are more important.
