We are seeking a meticulous and highly experienced Production QC Manager to oversee and elevate the quality assurance standards of our Innerwear and Loungewear divisions. Because innerwear and loungewear demand the highest levels of comfort, elasticity, skin-friendliness, and precise fit, you will play a critical role in ensuring that every garment leaving our facilities meets strict performance and aesthetic benchmarks.
You will manage the entire QC lifecycle—from raw material inspection (fabrics, elastics, trims) to inline production, final AQL audits, and vendor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Establish, implement, and maintain rigorous quality control standards and testing protocols specifically tailored for stretch fabrics, delicate knits, and premium loungewear textiles.
- Raw Material & Trim Inspection: Oversee the testing and approval of incoming raw materials, focusing heavily on fabric hand-feel, shrinkage, colorfastness, elastane recovery, and the durability of waistbands, elastics, and seams.
- Fit & Construction Verification: Partner closely with the technical design team to analyze fit samples. Ensure production patterns account for the specific stretch behavior of fabrics used in bras, briefs, thermals, and sleepwear.
- In-Line & End-of-Line Audits: Manage a team of QC inspectors across manufacturing lines to identify, track, and rectify stitching defects (e.g., skipped stitches, puckering, uneven tension) in real-time.
- Final Pre-Shipment Inspection: Conduct final random audits based on AQL standards (Acceptable Quality Limit) before packaging and shipping.
- Vendor & Factory Compliance: Visit and audit third-party manufacturing partners to ensure their QA processes align with our brand guidelines and social/chemical compliance standards (e.g., OEKO-TEX certification for skin contact safety).
- Root-Cause Analysis: Investigate customer returns or defective batches, establish root causes, and implement corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans with production teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in apparel Quality Control/Quality Assurance, with at least 1–2 years specifically dedicated to Innerwear (intimate apparel, underwear) or Loungewear/Sleepwear.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of knitted fabrics (modal, cotton-spandex blends, bamboo, micro-fibers) and specialized machinery used for stretch garments (flatlock, overlock, zigzag stitching, and bonding technology).
- Standards Expertise: Thorough knowledge of international quality and auditing standards (e.g., AQL 1.5/2.5/4.0), fabric testing methods (ASTM/AATCC), and garment safety requirements (needle detection protocols).
- Leadership: Proven experience managing, training, and motivating a team of QC inspectors and auditors.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data, identify defect trends, and generate comprehensive quality reports.
- Travel: Willingness to travel frequently to manufacturing units and vendor factories as required.
Preferred Attributes
- A sharp eye for detail, particularly regarding subtle defects in fabric shading, garment stretch, and symmetry.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to handle quality disputes firmly but constructively with suppliers.
- Familiarity with eco-friendly or organic fabric testing standards.
