Job Title: Commis 1 – Multicuisine
Department: Food & Beverage – Kitchen
Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef
Job Summary
A Continental Commis 1 is responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of continental dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. The role involves maintaining high food quality, hygiene standards, and supporting smooth kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook continental dishes as per hotel standards and recipes
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as chopping, marinating, and portioning
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation
- Follow standard recipes and portion control guidelines
- Ensure proper storage of food items and ingredients
- Support senior chefs during busy service periods
- Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory control
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP standards)
- Ensure timely preparation and presentation of dishes
Additional Duties
- Assist in menu planning and new dish development (if required)
- Handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Participate in daily kitchen briefings and training sessions
- Maintain proper waste management practices
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of continental cuisine (soups, sauces, salads, grills, pastas)
- Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Time management and multitasking abilities
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Hotel Management / Culinary Arts
- 3–5years of experience as Commis 2 or similar role preferred
- Hands-on experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen
