Key Responsibilities
- Program Development: Create and optimize 2-axis to multi-axis CNC programs for lathes and turning centers using Mastercam software.
- G-code/M-code Optimization: Write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and M-code directly on Fanuc controllers to ensure efficient toolpaths.
- Blueprint Analysis: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine the best machining strategy.
- Process Setup: Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for various materials such as steel, aluminum, or titanium.
- Prove-outs & Quality Control: Perform first-article inspections and program prove-outs at the machine, adjusting tool offsets and work offsets as needed for dimensional accuracy.
- Process Improvement: Analyze cycle times and tool wear to reduce scrap and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Training & Support: Mentor CNC operators and setters on new program setups and safety procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Typically 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in CNC turning and Mastercam programming.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Fanuc control panels and manual G-code editing.
- Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Mastercam (Lathe/Mill-Turn modules); familiarity with SolidWorks is often a plus.
- Metrology: Skilled in using precision measuring tools like verniers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges.
- Education: A Diploma, ITI, or B.Tech/BE in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is generally required.
