Mackay currently has an opening for an experienced Marine Service Engineer (MSE), also known as a Marine Electronics Technician (MET), who is fluent English and with the skills and qualifications below for our Mumbai depot.
Marine Service Engineer Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, the Marine Service Engineer (MSE) will install, service, test, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair a variety of electronic devices such as radars, sonars, navigation, and communication equipment. The MSE will use their knowledge of radio frequencies (RF), electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. As well as making intelligent use of wiring diagrams, drawings, complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. The MSE will refer questionable or unusual cases to supervisor. and upon completion of job, compose a detailed service report.
Requirements of MSE:
- Follow standardized procedures.
- Document installation and/or service rendered.
- Maintain a high first-time fix rate.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Board vessel to perform installation, repairs, and/or troubleshoot reported problem with the equipment.

Mandatory Licenses and Qualifications:
- FCC License with Radar Endorsement or Equivalent.
- GMDSS General Radio Operator Maintainer License W/Ship Radar Endorsement
- 3+ Years’ experience as an MSE, MET or ET in commercial shipping.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- University Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
- Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying parts kit and/or tool bag weighting up to 24 kgs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather
- Reliable transportation.
