Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – NPD (Tool Room) will be responsible for new product development tooling, die development, tool design coordination, and trial management. The role involves working closely with design, production, quality, and vendor teams to develop and improve tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for sheet metal and agricultural machinery components.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. New Product Development
- Develop tooling for new sheet metal and fabrication parts.
- Participate in design review and feasibility study for new product development.
- Plan tooling strategy for new components.
2. Tool & Die Development
- Coordinate development of press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Ensure timely development and validation of tooling.
- Conduct tool trials and debugging.
3. Process Development
- Develop manufacturing processes for new components.
- Optimize cycle time and tool performance.
- Implement improvements in tooling for productivity and quality.
4. Tool Trial & Validation
- Conduct tool trials on press machines.
- Analyze trial results and make necessary modifications.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy of parts.
5. Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with tooling vendors and suppliers for tool development.
- Monitor tool manufacturing progress and quality.
- Ensure on-time tool delivery.
6. Documentation
- Maintain tool design data, trial reports, and modification records.
- Prepare tool history and maintenance plans.
7. Cross Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Design, Production, PPC, and Quality teams.
- Support production during new part introduction.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of Press Tool Design
- Knowledge of Sheet Metal Components
- Experience in Jigs & Fixtures Development
- Understanding of Tool Trial and Debugging
- Knowledge of AutoCAD / SolidWorks / CATIA
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes
