The ideal candidate will own the entire lifecycle of packaging material—from initial concept and vendor onboarding to bulk procurement and continuous cost optimization.
1. New Vendor Development & Onboarding
· Identify, evaluate, and onboard new packaging vendors capable of meeting quality, capacity, and sustainability requirements.
· Conduct vendor audits, assess technical capabilities, and establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
· Build a robust, risk-mitigated vendor pipeline to prevent single-source dependencies.
2. Packaging Development for New Products
· Design and develop innovative, functional, and sustainable packaging solutions for new product launches.
· Conduct compatibility studies, transit trials, and drop tests to ensure product integrity throughout the supply chain.
· Define and establish standard technical specifications (dimensions, material composition, GSM, etc.) for all packaging components.
3. Procurement & Supply Chain Management
· Manage the end-to-end procurement of all packaging materials (primary, secondary, and tertiary).
· Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to ensure timely availability of materials.
· Monitor inventory levels closely to prevent both stock-outs and excess dead stock.
4. Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
· Analyze existing packaging structures to identify opportunities for material reduction, down-gauging, or redesign without compromising quality.
· Implement cost-saving initiatives through volume consolidation, alternative material sourcing, and process improvements.
· Track and report monthly cost-reduction metrics against organizational targets.
