The Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food products to ensure they meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The role supports food production by monitoring product quality, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with food safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of food products.
- Collect and prepare samples from raw materials, production lines, and finished goods.
- Monitor product quality according to established specifications.
- Record, analyze, and report laboratory test results accurately.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, ISO 22000, and food safety regulations.
- Assist in investigating quality issues and non-conforming products.
- Maintain laboratory documentation and testing records.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Monitor shelf-life and stability testing when required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Technology,
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience in the food manufacturing industry (fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles).
- Knowledge of food testing methods and laboratory practices.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, and food safety standards.
