Job Description – Resident Medical Officer (RMO)
Position: Resident Medical Officer
Department: Medical Services
Location: Panvel/Khanda colony/vashi etc
Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Consultant In-charge
Employment Type: Full-time / Rotational Shifts
Role Summary
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care to inpatients and emergency cases, ensuring timely diagnosis, treatment, and coordination with consultants and nursing staff. The RMO plays a key role in patient monitoring, documentation, and emergency management.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Examine and assess patients on admission and during hospital stay
- Monitor vital signs, progress, and clinical condition of patients
- Provide immediate medical care in emergencies
- Implement treatment plans as advised by consultants
- Conduct routine ward rounds and follow-ups
Clinical Duties
- Manage OPD and IPD patients as per hospital protocols
- Perform basic medical procedures (IV cannulation, catheterization, suturing, etc.)
- Assist consultants during procedures and surgeries
- Interpret diagnostic reports and inform consultants of critical findings
Emergency Management
- Handle medical and surgical emergencies promptly
- Stabilize critical patients before consultant intervention
- Coordinate with ICU, OT, and diagnostic departments
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate medical records and case sheets
- Prepare discharge summaries and prescriptions
- Follow NABH / hospital quality protocols
- Ensure medico-legal documentation when required
Coordination
- Work closely with nursing staff and allied departments
- Communicate patient condition to relatives
- Coordinate referrals and transfers when needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: MBBS from a recognized university
- Registration: Valid MMC/MCI registration
- Experience: 0–3 years (Freshers can apply)
- Skills Required:
- Clinical assessment and decision-making
- Emergency response skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in rotational shifts
Working Hours
- Rotational shifts including night duties
- Weekly off as per roster
