Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales targets, leading and developing a team of Medical Representatives (MRs), expanding business in the assigned territory, maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, and ensuring implementation of the company's sales and marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Recruit, train, coach, and motivate Medical Representatives.
- Monitor daily field activities through joint field work and regular reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with doctors, hospitals, chemists, and stockists.
- Plan and execute territory-wise sales strategies.
- Analyze sales performance and prepare action plans to improve business.
- Conduct regular cycle meetings and product training sessions.
- Ensure timely reporting of daily call reports, expense statements, and sales data.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide market intelligence to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.Sc., B.Pharm., BBA, or equivalent). MBA is an added advantage.
- Relevant experience in pharmaceutical sales, preferably with team-handling experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and CRM/reporting systems (if applicable).
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
