A Commis 1 (Multicuisine) prepares, cooks, and plates diverse dishes (Indian, Continental, Tandoor) according to recipes,, maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards. They manage station mise en place, assist chefs de partie, control inventory, and ensure consistent quality in a high-volume kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare ingredients (chopping, marinating, butchery) and cook dishes to specification across different stations.
- Mise en Place: Set up, maintain, and break down workstations efficiently.
- Quality & Consistency: Ensure all food items are prepared, plated, and garnished to hotel/restaurant quality standards.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, adhering to HACCP and sanitation regulations.
- Inventory Control: Check stock levels, receive deliveries, and report low stock to the superior.
- Flexibility: Assist in various kitchen sections (e.g., pantry, continental, tandoor) as required during busy periods.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–5 years in a similar role (hot/cold kitchen) within a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Skills: Strong culinary skills across multiple cuisines, ability to work under pressure, team collaboration, and multitasking.
- Education: Culinary school diploma or certification is a plus.
- Techniques: Proficiency with kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, ovens, knives).
