Job Title: Pre-Sales Engineer – Fire Fighting Systems

Job Purpose
The Pre-Sales Engineer will provide technical support to the sales team throughout the pre-sales cycle for fire fighting systems and solutions (fire hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, fire alarm & detection systems, gas suppression systems, etc.). The role bridges the gap between client requirements and technical/engineering feasibility, ensuring accurate, competitive, and compliant proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Study tender documents, RFQs, and client requirements (NFPA, TAC, local fire codes) to understand scope of work
- Prepare technical proposals, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and cost estimations for fire fighting projects
- Conduct hydraulic calculations for fire fighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels) using relevant software (e.g., HASS, Elite Fire, AutoCAD)
- Design and review fire fighting layouts/drawings in coordination with design engineers
- Select appropriate equipment (pumps, valves, sprinklers, detectors, panels) based on project requirements and applicable codes/standards
- Coordinate with vendors/OEMs (e.g., Tyco, Viking, Grundfos, Honeywell, Siemens) for pricing, specifications, and technical datasheets
- Support the sales team during client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, TAC, NBC, local civil defense, and other relevant fire safety codes/standards
- Prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets for management/client evaluation
- Attend site visits when necessary to understand project conditions
- Coordinate with the execution team for smooth project handover post order confirmation
- Maintain and update product knowledge, pricing databases, and vendor catalogs
- Assist in responding to technical queries/clarifications during the tendering process
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Fire & Safety/Electrical Engineering (Diploma with strong experience may also be considered)
- NEBOSH/Fire Safety certification is a plus
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of fire fighting systems: hydrant, sprinkler, foam, gas suppression, fire pumps
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, NFPA 72, TAC, and local fire codes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, hydraulic calculation software (Elite Fire/HASS), MS Excel
- Understanding of fire alarm & detection systems is an added advantage
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines (tender submissions)
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Good coordination and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in a fire fighting/fire safety contracting or MEP company
- Experience handling government/private sector tenders
- Exposure to international projects (Middle East/GCC standards) is a plus
