To ensure smooth, safe, and timely operation of electric bus services by effectively managing daily driver duties, vehicle deployment, route operations, attendance, and coordination between drivers, supervisors, maintenance, and control-room teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Duty & Driver Management
- Prepare, allocate, and monitor daily duty schedules for drivers.
- Ensure adequate driver availability for all scheduled services.
- Manage driver reporting, attendance, late reporting, absenteeism, and replacements.
- Arrange substitute drivers in case of absence or operational requirements.
- Ensure drivers are deployed as per approved duty rosters and routes.
- Monitor duty completion and missed/shortened kilometres.
2. Bus Deployment & Operations
- Coordinate timely out-shedding and in-shedding of electric buses.
- Ensure the correct bus is deployed against the assigned route and duty.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team regarding bus availability and roadworthiness.
- Ensure buses are not deployed with known safety or technical defects.
- Monitor route operations and immediately escalate operational disruptions.
3. Charging & Electric Bus Coordination
- Coordinate with the charging team to ensure buses are adequately charged before deployment.
- Monitor charging-related delays and coordinate corrective action.
- Ensure buses are available as per the planned schedule.
- Coordinate with technical/maintenance teams in case of charging or vehicle-related issues.
4. Attendance & Record Management
- Monitor driver attendance through the prescribed attendance systems.
- Verify duty attendance, reporting time, departure time, and duty completion.
- Maintain records of absenteeism, late reporting, no-duty cases, replacements, and missed duties.
- Submit daily operational and attendance reports to the concerned management.
5. Route & Service Monitoring
- Monitor adherence to assigned routes and scheduled timings.
- Coordinate with drivers and supervisors regarding route deviations, delays, breakdowns, and service interruptions.
- Report cases of unauthorized route deviation, early departure, missed trips, overspeeding, or other operational violations.
- Coordinate with the control room for real-time operational issues.
6. Safety & Discipline
- Ensure drivers follow all safety procedures, traffic rules, depot instructions, and company policies.
- Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, traffic challans, passenger-related incidents, or other serious operational issues.
- Ensure drivers report fit and properly equipped for duty.
- Escalate cases of misconduct, negligence, refusal of duty, or violation of instructions to the Depot Manager.

8. Shift & Emergency Management
- Handle operational requirements during the assigned shift.
- Take immediate action during breakdowns, accidents, driver shortages, charging failures, route disruptions, or other emergencies.
- Ensure timely escalation of critical matters to senior management.
- Support continuity of bus services during peak hours and unforeseen situations.
Daily Responsibilities
- Verify driver attendance and reporting.
- Check duty allocation and driver availability.
- Monitor bus availability and deployment.
- Coordinate charging status before out-shedding.
- Monitor scheduled departure and arrival timings.
- Arrange replacements where required.
- Maintain shift-wise operational records.
- Prepare and submit daily reports.
- Handover pending operational issues to the next shift.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate/Diploma preferred.
- 0-1 years of experience in transport operations, fleet management, bus operations, logistics, or a similar field preferred.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and basic computer operations.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including night shifts.
- Ability to handle pressure and emergency operational situations.
- Knowledge of electric bus operations will be an added advantage.
- Strong discipline, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Note: The DUTY Officer is responsible for ensuring that the assigned shift operates smoothly, safely, and in accordance with the approved duty schedule and operational procedures.
