Job Description
Lead UX Designer
About the Role
We are looking for a Lead UX Designer to own and elevate the user experience across all our web and mobile applications. This is a senior individual contributor role — you will be hands-on with design every day while also setting the direction, leading co-design workshops, and bridging business strategy with real end-user needs.
You will be working closely with product owners, engineers, and business stakeholders ensuring every experience we build is grounded in user research, co-design practice, and industry standards. This is not a management role, but it carries significant influence and responsibility.
Role Details
Key Responsibilities
Co-design & Facilitation
Lead co-design workshops with business stakeholders and end-users together aligning everyone on direction before development begins.
Facilitate participatory design sessions that bring engineers, product managers, and customers into the design process early.
Translate co-design outputs into actionable experience principles, user journeys, and product requirements.
Run design sprints and collaborative ideation sessions to solve complex UX challenges quickly.
Hands-on UX Execution
Directly execute UX across all web and mobile applications on a day-to-day basis from research and wireframes through to production-ready designs.
Conduct user research interviews, usability tests, contextual enquiry to ground all design decisions in real user behaviour.
Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma.
Ensure all experiences meet industry UX standards, accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA), and platform best practices.
Strategy & Leadership
Define and communicate the UX vision across all web and mobile product surfaces, ensuring consistency and coherence.
Translate business strategy and organisational goals into clear experience principles and design direction.
Influence the product roadmap with co-design outputs, user evidence, and experience rationale.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level designers through critique, pairing, and structured feedback.
Bridge the gap between business strategy and end-user needs at every stage of the product lifecycle.
Standards & Quality
Establish and uphold UX quality standards across all web and mobile touchpoints.
Contribute to and evolve the design system with scalable, principled components and patterns.
Review implemented features and identify gaps between design intent and delivered experience.
Stay current with industry UX trends, tools, and methodologies — and share knowledge across the team.
Must-Have Requirements
8+ years of UX design experience with a portfolio demonstrating strategic, systems-level impact across web and mobile.
Proven expertise in co-design facilitation running workshops with mixed groups of business stakeholders and end-users.
Deep proficiency in Figma — auto-layout, component variants, interactive prototyping.
Strong UX research skills — planning and running studies independently, synthesising findings into actionable insights.
Demonstrated ability to lead design direction across a product or platform, not just execute assigned tasks.
Experience designing for both responsive web and native mobile platforms (iOS / Android).
Track record of influencing product roadmaps with design and research evidence.
Strong communication and presentation skills — able to clearly articulate design decisions to senior stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Expertise in UX strategy, information architecture, or service design.
Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
Working knowledge of UI design principles — typography, colour, spacing, and visual hierarchy — to review and guide UI decisions when needed.
Experience contributing to or building a shared design system at scale.
Basic front-end knowledge (HTML / CSS) for closer collaboration with engineering.
Exposure to product analytics tools — Amplitude, Mixpanel, FullStory, or equivalents.
Prior experience in a B2B SaaS or enterprise product environment.
Experience with AI/ML-powered product features or conversational UX.
