A Marketplace Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for driving business growth, managing strategic seller/brand relationships, and optimizing overall account performance on the marketplace platform. They act as the primary bridge between the marketplace ecosystem and key brand partners to maximize revenue, improve operational efficiency, and ensure excellent customer experiences.
1. Account Management & Relationship Building
Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison between the marketplace and top-tier brand partners/sellers, fostering long-term strategic relationships.
Onboarding & Incubation: Oversee the smooth onboarding of new high-value brands onto the marketplace platform.
Business Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews (weekly/monthly/quarterly) with brands to share insights, review metrics, and identify growth bottlenecks.
2. Business Growth & Revenue Maximization
Sales Targets: Own and drive the Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), revenue, and margin targets for assigned key accounts.
Joint Business Planning (JBP): Collaborate with brands to create and execute yearly or quarterly joint business plans to scale their online presence.
Assortment & Inventory Management: Analyze brand portfolios to ensure optimal stock availability, maximize selection depth, and minimize out-of-stock scenarios.
3. Campaign & Marketing Strategy
Event Planning: Partner with internal marketing and merchandising teams to include key accounts in major platform sale events (e.g., flagship sale events).
Visibility Optimization: Strategize and execute on-app visibility plans, banner placements, and sponsored advertisements to boost brand discoverability.
Pricing & Discounting: Align with brands on competitive pricing strategies, exclusive launches, and promotional discounting structures.
4. Operations & Performance Analytics
Operational Excellence: Monitor critical operational KPIs such as order fulfillment rates, returns, seller cancellations, and delivery turnaround times (TAT).
Data-Driven Insights: Utilize marketplace data analytics tools to track consumer behavior, category trends, and competitor benchmarking, translating data into actionable growth strategies for sellers.
Catalog & Content Quality: Ensure high standards of cataloging, high-quality imagery, and accurate product descriptions to improve conversion rates.
