Reporting to the VP or SVP, the Accountant will be responsible for processing financial information and preparing financial statements and management reports for captive insurance and segregated account clients. The role will support the delivery of high-quality accounting services, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while maintaining strong relationships with client-facing teams and other stakeholders.

Support the team with the management of a portfolio of captive insurance and segregated account clients, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial information.
- Prepare statutory financial statements, management accounts, and other financial reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Process accounting transactions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare written reports and financial analyses for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of financial information required for audits and regulatory filings.
- Assist with the collection, review, and maintenance of client risk management and compliance documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Support the VP or SVP in responding to client inquiries and resolving accounting and reporting issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with client-facing teams to support client service delivery.
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and are readily available when required.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and other accounting-related projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the VP or SVP.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3 years' experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, or insurance accounting.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Experience working within a professional services, insurance, captive management, or financial services environment is preferred.
- Understanding of financial reporting requirements and accounting standards.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits is preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Essential requirement (non-negotiable) *
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a financial accounting and reporting role.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting reconciliations.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF(S), and other financial reporting functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce consistently accurate work to tight deadlines.
