Job Summary:
As the School Program Executive for the Bal Shiksha Ahara Program, you will play a key role in managing and expanding Akshaya Chaitanya’s school-based meal programs. With a focus on providing nutritious breakfast and lunch to children in municipal schools, your responsibility will be to ensure that our food-security initiatives are running smoothly, enabling children to attend school without the barrier of hunger. This role involves working closely with school authorities, local communities, and government stakeholders, and driving program growth to support the overarching goal of zero classroom hunger.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Expansion & Management:
· Lead the expansion of the Bal Shiksha Ahara Program to additional schools within Mumbai, ensuring that more children benefit from nutritious meals.
· Develop and implement strategies to increase meal coverage and participation, focusing on scaling the program while maintaining high-quality service.
· Work directly with school management and local authorities to integrate meal distribution seamlessly into daily school routines.
Stakeholder Engagement:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal school principals, teachers, and local education authorities.
· Coordinate with government stakeholders and community organizations to enhance the program’s impact and reach.
· Foster relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders ensuring they are regularly updated on the program’s progress and impact.
Program Coordination:
· Oversee the logistical aspects of meal distribution, ensuring that meals are delivered on time and in proper quantities to schools.
· Manage the supply chain for food procurement, ensuring nutritional standards, quality, and hygiene are maintained.
· Ensure program staff and volunteers are well-trained and equipped to deliver meals efficiently and safely to children.
Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation:
· Track and monitor the daily operations of the program, ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery of meals.
· Collect data on program outcomes (e.g., student attendance, participation) and generate regular reports for internal teams, donors, and external stakeholders.
· Use feedback from schools, students, and stakeholders to assess the impact of the program and identify areas for improvement.
Donor & Community Engagement:
· Regularly update donors and sponsors on the program’s progress, including success stories, challenges, and key impact metrics.
· Organize donor visits and community engagement activities to showcase the positive impact of the Bal Shiksha Ahara Program.
Team & Volunteer Management:
· Oversee the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of field staff, volunteers, and on-site teams at the schools.
· Ensure all staff adhere to program guidelines and maintain a positive, supportive environment for students and their families.
Health, Safety & Hygiene Standards:
· Regularly assess the health and safety practices in schools, working with local authorities to address any concerns related to food security, sanitation, or student welfare.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Experience:
o Minimum of 0-3 years of experience in managing community-based programs, especially in food security, education, or health.
o Previous experience working with schools, government departments, or non-profits is highly desirable.
· Skills:
o Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
o Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government bodies, educational institutions, and community members.
Additional Requirements:
· Location: Residency in Mumbai or nearby areas with flexibility to travel to various schools as required.
· Travel: Willingness to travel frequently within the city and to different schools in the program.
· Passion: A strong passion for social impact, particularly in the areas of food security, education, and child welfare.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
