Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and governance of scalable data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud data warehousing, data modeling, and semantic layer architecture, with the ability to independently own end-to-end platform delivery, guide design decisions, and mentor junior team members while engaging directly with business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Lead stakeholder workshops to define reporting requirements, current-state pain points, and target-state data architecture across business functions.
Own the assessment and modernization roadmap for legacy data assets and integrations across CRM, ERP, and other enterprise systems.
Architect and oversee implementation of a multi-layered data warehouse on BigQuery, following medallion-style layering (raw, staging, curated/semantic).
Define and review conceptual and logical data models, including fact and dimension tables, ensuring a single conformed source of truth across the platform.
Establish governed reference and master data frameworks, reducing hardcoded business logic and enabling self-service updates.
Guide the team in building modular, version-controlled transformation pipelines using dbt or equivalent frameworks, with sound materialization, partitioning, and clustering practices.
Oversee design and automation of data ingestion pipelines, balancing near-real-time and batch/incremental patterns, with reconciliation controls to ensure data integrity.
Drive consolidation of BI/reporting logic into a single certified semantic model, reducing duplication and inconsistency across dashboards.
Define and enforce data security and access control standards, including RBAC/IAM and row-level security aligned to organizational structure.
Establish auditability controls for sensitive or regulated metrics, including point-in-time snapshotting and change-tracking.
Own documentation, lineage, and data quality standards across the team, driving long-term platform trust and adoption.
Review the technical output of junior data engineers/analysts and provide mentorship on best practices.
