Job Description: Sales Head – Fuel Sales
Job Overview
We are seeking a high-performing and strategic Sales Head – Fuel Sales to drive our market expansion, manage procurement relationships, and lead our sales team to success. In this role, you will be entirely responsible for the top-line and bottom-line growth of our fuel sales division. You will balance commercial sales strategies with robust procurement planning, ensuring competitive pricing and high-margin revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Revenue Generation
- Drive Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- B2B Acquisition: Identify and secure high-value commercial accounts, including logistics companies, manufacturing plants, infrastructure projects, and fleets.
- Market Expansion: Analyze market trends to identify new geographic territories and untapped sector opportunities.
- Margin Optimization: Monitor fuel price fluctuations to structure flexible, profitable pricing models for diverse client tiers.
2. Supply Chain & Procurement Management
- Vendor Relations: Manage strategic partnerships with oil marketing companies (OMCs), refineries, and wholesale distributors.
- Contract Negotiation: Oversee high-volume fuel procurement contracts to secure competitive pricing, volume discounts, and favorable credit terms.
- Inventory Alignment: Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to align procurement volumes with sales forecasts, minimizing stock-outs or over-supply.
3. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead Teams: Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of regional sales managers and account executives.
- Performance Metrics: Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and sales targets for the team.
- Field Support: Accompany team members on high-stakes client meetings to help close complex commercial deals.
4. Client & Relationship Management
- Retention: Build long-term relationships with key accounts to ensure high retention rates and repeat business.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all sales, distribution, and storage contracts strictly comply with local safety, environmental, and petroleum regulatory standards.
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience: 12 to 20 years of experience in B2B sales, with at least 4+ years specifically leading teams within the fuel, petroleum, oil & gas, or energy sector.
- Procurement Knowledge: Proven track record of handling high-volume supply contracts and understanding fuel distribution dynamics.
- Financial Acumen: Strong expertise in revenue forecasting, profit margin calculation, and managing credit/payment cycles for corporate clients.
- Leadership: Exceptional team-building skills with a reputation for motivating remote or field-based sales forces.
- Communication: Elite negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Total quarterly and annual volume growth (in Litres/Metric Tons).
- Gross profit margins secured across bulk sales.
- Accuracy of sales forecasts vs. actual procurement cycles.
- Customer retention rate and collection cycle timelines (reducing Days Sales Outstanding - DSO).
