The Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership for product development projects, ensuring designs meet safety, regulatory and customer requirements. The role will drive engineering deliverables across the project lifecycle, coordinate cross‑functional engineering activities, and ensure robust verification and validation practices are implemented for new product introductions and changes.
Lead technical planning and execution for projects, including development of technical plans, design reviews and verification strategies.
Coordinate and facilitate cross‑functional engineering gates, design reviews and technical sign‑offs with stakeholders.
Define and manage requirements, interfaces and technical specifications; ensure traceability between requirements, design, test and production documents.
Drive risk assessment activities (e.g., DFMEA) and work with manufacturing, quality and suppliers to implement mitigation actions.
Develop and oversee test plans, validation protocols and qualification activities to demonstrate compliance with internal standards and customer expectations.
Support supplier engineering interactions including technical reviews, capability assessments and issue resolution.
Investigate technical issues during development and launch, lead root cause analysis and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor engineering project metrics, report progress to project leadership and escalate technical risks as required.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve product reliability, manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness.
Provide coaching and mentoring to engineering team members, promoting best practices, engineering standards and knowledge sharing.
Strong background in product development processes and engineering principles within automotive or other safety‑critical industries.
Experience with systems engineering, requirements management and design verification methods.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders across engineering, quality and manufacturing.
Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience in root cause analysis techniques.
Proficiency with MS Office tools; experience with PLM/ERP systems and engineering tools (CAD, simulation, test software) is desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline‑driven environment.
