Health & Safety Officer (HSE)
Department: Health, Safety & Environment | Location: SRP and RSIPL, Ramgarh | Reports to: Unit Head
Purpose: Protect every person working in the plant through an enforced safety management system — permits, inspections, training, investigation and statutory compliance.
Qualification: Diploma in Industrial Safety or equivalent recognised HSE qualification; qualification recognised under the Factories Act for Safety Officer appointment preferred.
Experience: 8–10 years in safety-related activities in industry, preferably in a steel, sponge iron or power plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the plant safety management system and standard safety procedures.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment for every area, activity and change; maintain the risk register.
- Operate and audit the work permit system — hot work, height, confined space, excavation, electrical isolation.
- Verify precautions physically at site before endorsing a permit; stop work where conditions are unsafe.
- Conduct daily and scheduled safety inspections; drive owner-wise closure of observations.
- Investigate every accident, near-miss and dangerous occurrence to root cause; track corrective actions to closure.
- Conduct safety induction for all employees, contract workmen and visitors, and periodic job-specific training.
- Specify PPE, audit usage, and maintain firefighting, first aid and emergency response readiness.
- Maintain the on-site emergency plan and conduct mock drills.
- Maintain Factories Act records and coordinate statutory testing of pressure vessels, cranes and lifting tackle.
- Support environmental compliance — emission and effluent records, hazardous waste handling, PCB correspondence.
Pay: ₹12,198.47 - ₹44,377.04 per month
