Position: Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS)

1. Job Summary
The Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) will assist the Medical Superintendent and Hospital Management in the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the hospital. The DMS will ensure smooth coordination between doctors, nursing staff, departments, patients, and hospital administration while maintaining quality patient care, clinical discipline, safety, and regulatory compliance.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Clinical & Patient Care Management
- Monitor the overall quality of patient care and clinical services.
- Conduct regular rounds of wards, ICU, emergency, and other critical areas.
- Address patient-care-related issues and complaints promptly.
- Ensure timely coordination between consultants, RMOs, nursing, and support departments.
- Monitor clinical documentation, patient records, and discharge processes.
- Ensure proper escalation of critical clinical issues.
B. Hospital Operations
- Supervise day-to-day hospital operations in coordination with department heads.
- Ensure smooth functioning of OPD, IPD, ICU, Emergency, OT, Diagnostics, Pharmacy, and other departments.
- Monitor manpower availability and deployment.
- Coordinate duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing.
- Identify operational gaps and report them to the Medical Superintendent/Management.
C. Doctor & Nursing Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, visiting doctors, RMOs, nursing staff, and paramedical teams.
- Ensure doctors follow hospital policies, protocols, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor consultant availability and adherence to scheduled duties.
- Facilitate communication between clinical departments and management.
D. Quality & NABH Compliance
- Ensure implementation of hospital policies, SOPs, protocols, and clinical guidelines.
- Support NABH and other statutory/accreditation requirements.
- Monitor compliance with patient safety standards.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, incident reviews, and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of clinical incidents.
E. Emergency & Critical Care
- Monitor the functioning of Emergency and Critical Care services.
- Ensure availability of required doctors, nurses, equipment, medicines, and emergency supplies.
- Coordinate during medical emergencies, codes, disasters, and mass-casualty situations.
- Ensure appropriate escalation of critical cases to senior consultants/management.
F. Patient Relations
- Address patient and attendant concerns professionally.
- Coordinate resolution of complaints related to clinical services.
- Promote respectful, ethical, and patient-centered care.
- Monitor patient feedback and assist in improving patient satisfaction.
G. Documentation & Reporting
- Review daily clinical and operational reports.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Medical Superintendent/COO as required.
- Monitor clinical KPIs and departmental performance.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
H. Coordination with Support Departments
- Coordinate with HR, Pharmacy, Billing, TPA, Laboratory, Radiology, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Security, and other departments.
- Ensure clinical requirements are communicated and addressed promptly.
- Assist management in resolving interdepartmental operational issues.
3. Administrative Responsibilities
- Implement hospital management decisions and policies.
- Monitor staff discipline and professional conduct.
- Support recruitment, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of clinical staff.
- Participate in departmental meetings and management review meetings.
- Assist in manpower planning and resource utilization.
- Ensure proper handover and continuity of hospital operations.
4. Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Qualification in Hospital Administration/Healthcare Management will be an advantage.
- Valid medical registration as applicable.
- Additional certification in Hospital Administration, NABH, Quality Management, or Healthcare Management will be preferred.
5. Experience
- Preferably 1–5 years of experience in hospital/clinical administration.
- Experience in a multispecialty hospital will be preferred.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals and quality management will be an advantage.

8. Authority & Accountability
The DMS will be responsible for ensuring smooth clinical and operational functioning of the hospital within the authority delegated by the Medical Superintendent and Hospital Management. Major clinical, financial, disciplinary, or policy decisions shall be escalated to the appropriate authority.
Pay: ₹20,188.61 - ₹85,537.12 per month
