JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Project Head – Electromechanical
Department: Projects / Engineering
Location: Kandivali, Mumbai
Education:
B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering. Diploma holders with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
Experience:
20+ years of overall experience, preferably with significant experience in STP/WTP/ETP, water-treatment, EPC or infrastructure projects.
Industry Preference: Water Treatment / STP / WTP / ETP / Infrastructure / EPC / Electromechanical Projects
. Key Responsibilities
A. Project Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end electromechanical execution of STP, WTP, ETP and related infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and monitor detailed execution plans, schedules, milestones and resource requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of electromechanical activities as per project timelines.
- Coordinate with Project, Civil, Design, Procurement, Planning, QA/QC and Site teams.
- Monitor project progress and identify delays, bottlenecks and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper coordination between civil and electromechanical works to avoid interface issues.
B. Electrical Scope
- Review and supervise electrical engineering and execution activities.
- Oversee HT/LT systems, transformers, DG sets, MCC/PCC panels, VFD panels, APFC panels, DBs and cable systems.
- Review electrical load schedules, SLDs, cable schedules, panel specifications and equipment specifications.
- Ensure proper installation of power and control cabling, cable trays, earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Coordinate electrical testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
C. Mechanical Scope
- Manage installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as:
- Raw water and treated water pumps
- Sludge pumps
- Blowers
- Agitators/mixers
- Screens and compactors
- Clarifiers
- Filter systems
- Sludge handling equipment
- Chemical dosing systems
- Valves and piping systems
- Review equipment specifications, GA drawings, datasheets and vendor documents.
- Ensure correct equipment alignment, installation, testing and performance.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and specialist vendors for installation and commissioning.
D. Instrumentation & Automation
- Coordinate instrumentation and automation activities for water-treatment projects.
- Review instrument specifications, I/O lists, instrument schedules and control philosophy.
- Coordinate PLC, SCADA, HMI, VFD and control-panel integration.
- Ensure proper installation, calibration, loop checking and testing of instruments.
- Coordinate PLC/SCADA testing and commissioning with automation vendors.
E. Engineering & Technical Review
- Review electrical, mechanical and instrumentation drawings, BOQs and technical specifications.
- Verify drawings and engineering deliverables against tender/client requirements.
- Provide technical inputs for equipment selection and system design.
- Identify technical issues and provide timely engineering solutions.
- Ensure approved drawings and specifications are followed during execution.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients for technical approvals.
F. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with Procurement for timely procurement of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment.
- Review technical offers received from vendors.
- Participate in technical evaluation and vendor finalization.
- Coordinate with vendors for drawings, datasheets, inspection and dispatch.
- Monitor manufacturing and delivery schedules.
- Ensure materials are available at site as per project requirements.
- Support commercial negotiations from a technical perspective.
G. Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Lead installation, testing and commissioning of electromechanical systems.
- Prepare commissioning plans and checklists.
- Coordinate FAT/SAT, equipment testing and site commissioning activities.
- Ensure proper trial runs and performance testing.
- Resolve site-level technical issues during commissioning.
- Ensure successful performance demonstration and project handover to the client.
H. Client & Consultant Coordination
- Act as the senior technical interface for electromechanical matters.
- Attend client, consultant and project review meetings.
- Address technical queries, observations and inspection requirements.
- Coordinate approvals for drawings, equipment and commissioning activities.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants and vendors.
I. Project Cost & Commercial Control
- Monitor electromechanical project costs against approved budgets.
- Identify cost overruns and implement corrective measures.
- Support preparation and verification of BOQs, estimates and variation statements.
- Coordinate with billing and commercial teams for measurement and billing of electromechanical works.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Support project profitability and margin improvement.
J. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all electromechanical works comply with approved specifications, applicable standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections and quality documentation.
- Ensure adherence to EHS and site safety requirements.
- Ensure proper testing and inspection records are maintained.
- Support internal, client and statutory audits wherever required.
K. Team Management
- Lead and mentor Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation and Site Engineering teams.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual/team performance.
- Conduct regular project review meetings.
- Develop technical capabilities of team members.
- Ensure effective coordination between HO and project sites.
L. MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare periodic project progress reports for management.
- Provide updates on:
- Project progress
- Procurement status
- Equipment delivery
- Installation status
- Commissioning status
- Cost and budget
- Major technical issues
- Risks and delays
- Client/consultant approvals
- Escalate critical project issues to management with recommended corrective actions.
Pay: ₹2,200,000.00 - ₹2,500,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
