The Client Account Manager owns the agency-partner relationship from initial discovery through delivery, continued support, and growth. This is a client-facing marketing and relationship role — not a traditional business-development position, a reactive coordination role, or a substitute for project management.
You’ll learn how each agency operates, what its leaders and clients are trying to accomplish, and where WLIQ can be genuinely helpful. You’ll turn that understanding into clear discovery, useful recommendations, strong account plans, thoughtful commercial conversations, and documented next actions.
This role is probably not for you if:
- You prefer a pure hunting or business-development role where you choose opportunities, close the work, and hand it to someone else
- You are most comfortable coordinating tasks after someone else has defined the problem and next step
- You expect the Project Manager to own discovery, client context, or relationship-sensitive conversations
- You approach marketing as execution or reporting only, without interpreting what the work means for the client’s business
- You wait for complete information before acting or routinely transfer ambiguous problems to someone else
This role is for someone who enjoys:
- Owning an agency-partner relationship end-to-end, not just a slice of it
- Turning curiosity and research into clear recommendations and account plans
- Being genuinely helpful without waiting to be asked
- Leading commercial conversations grounded in trust and insight, not pressure
If you’re someone who is naturally curious, commercially aware, and motivated by helping other people succeed — someone who asks thoughtful questions, finds the context, and recommends a useful next step rather than jumping straight to a tactic — this role gives you real ownership over that instinct.
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for an assigned portfolio of agency partners
- Build trust with agency owners, decision-makers, and day-to-day stakeholders
- Learn each partner’s services, clients, goals, constraints, market, working preferences, and definition of success
- Maintain continuity through new opportunities, active delivery, difficult conversations, recovery situations, and future growth
- Lead business and project discovery for most opportunities, bringing in a Project Manager or subject-matter expert when technical depth is needed
- Clarify the desired outcome, underlying problem, audience, stakeholders, systems, budget, timing, constraints, and success measures before recommending a solution
- Research internal history and the partner’s external business before escalating questions that can reasonably be answered
- Create and maintain practical account briefs and plans that distinguish facts, hypotheses, unanswered questions, recommendations, and next actions
- Bring relevant ideas and recommendations without waiting to be asked
- Connect WLIQ capabilities to real partner or end-client problems rather than forcing an upsell
- Lead proposal reviews, pricing conversations, renewals, scope discussions, and quote follow-up with sound commercial judgment
- Monitor account health, revenue, profitability, relationship risk, and growth potential
- Own the receiving side of every Sales-to-Account handoff and confirm that business context, scope, commitments, risks, and source materials are complete
- Partner with the assigned Project Manager to close information gaps, establish the account and project in Orbit, and prepare a useful kickoff
- Set clear expectations for communication, decisions, approvals, escalation, and next steps
- Work as an equal partner with Project Managers: you own the relationship, business context, outcomes, expectations, and commercial conversations; the PM owns technical feasibility, planning, resources, and day-to-day delivery orchestration
- Advocate professionally for account priorities and raise repeated blockers, capacity constraints, or delivery risks promptly
- Stay accountable for the relationship when delivery becomes complex; escalation brings in help but does not transfer ownership
- Translate technical, marketing, or operational complexity into clear language for non-technical stakeholders
- Lead structured client conversations, summarize decisions, and document owners and next actions
- Keep Orbit records, account notes, meeting agendas, reports, and commercial activity current
- Use approved AI tools to improve research, synthesis, documentation, reporting, and workflow efficiency while applying human judgment
- Curious by nature — you want to understand why something is happening before deciding what should change
- Clear with complexity — you can make a technical or complicated subject understandable and relatable without oversimplifying it
- Helpful without being passive — you offer ideas, make connections, and move work forward because you care about the partner’s outcome
- Analytical and practical — you can interpret information, explain what it means, and connect evidence to a recommendation
- Comfortable with ambiguity — you establish what is known, identify what is missing, research what you can, and propose a path forward
- Accountable for the relationship — you accept assigned accounts, surface legitimate risks, and retain ownership after a decision or escalation
- Collaborative across cultures and time zones — you communicate professionally with US-based agency partners and India-based delivery teams
- Partner understanding — Current account profiles reflect goals, stakeholders, working preferences, risks, and relevant business context
- Proactive value — Client-specific ideas and recommendations are documented and shared without waiting for a request
- Solution fit — The problem, desired outcome, and success measure are clear before work begins and revisited when work closes
- Relationship growth — Trust, access, retention, account depth, and appropriate revenue grow over time
- Ownership — The AM advances ambiguous situations, retains the relationship through delivery, and escalates constraints without abandoning the account
- Data discipline — Account records, agendas, reports, decisions, and next actions are complete and current
