Job Title: Tool Room Manager
Location - Nathupur Sonipat Haryana
Salary Offer - up to 6LPA
Job Summary:
The Tool Room Head is responsible for leading and managing all tool room activities related to sheet metal manufacturing. The role ensures timely design, development, maintenance, repair, modification, and availability of press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and other production tooling to achieve uninterrupted production, high quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tool Room Operations
· Plan, organize, and supervise daily tool room operations.
· Ensure availability of all production tools as per the production schedule.
· Monitor preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of tools and dies.
· Minimize tool downtime and improve tool life.
2. Tool Development
· Lead the development of new press tools, progressive dies, compound dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
· Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, and New Product Development (NPD) teams during new product launches.
· Validate tooling before production release.
3. Tool Maintenance
· Develop preventive maintenance schedules for all tools.
· Ensure timely refurbishment and repair of worn-out tools.
· Maintain tool history cards and maintenance records.
· Implement tooling improvements to increase productivity and reduce maintenance costs.
4. Production Support
· Provide immediate technical support for tool-related production issues.
· Analyze tool failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
· Ensure quick tool changeovers to minimize production losses.
5. Quality Management
· Ensure tools consistently produce components within drawing specifications.
· Monitor dimensional accuracy of dies, punches, fixtures, and gauges.
· Work closely with the Quality team to eliminate tool-related defects.
6. Team Management
· Lead and mentor Tool Room Engineers, Supervisors, CNC Operators, Tool Makers, Fitters, and Apprentices.
· Allocate manpower efficiently across shifts.
· Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
7. Continuous Improvement
· Drive Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, and cost-reduction initiatives.
· Improve tool life through process optimization and better tooling materials.
· Reduce tool repair costs and increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
8. Inventory & Budget Control
· Maintain inventory of tool steels, inserts, spare parts, cutting tools, and consumables.
· Monitor tooling expenditure and control department budgets.
· Coordinate with Procurement for timely material availability.
9. Safety & Compliance
· Ensure adherence to all safety standards within the tool room.
· Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
· Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF 16949 (if applicable), and company quality standards.
10. Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain tooling drawings, revision records, maintenance logs, and calibration records.
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
· Monitor KPIs such as:
o Tool breakdown frequency
o Tool life
o Tool maintenance cost
o On-time tool availability
o Production downtime due to tooling
o Tool development lead time
Required Qualifications
· Diploma/B.Tech./B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or Production Engineering.
Experience
· 12–18 years of experience in a sheet metal manufacturing industry.
· Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing a tool room.
· Hands-on experience with progressive dies, compound dies, blanking, piercing, bending, deep drawing, and forming tools.
Technical Skills
· Press tool design and maintenance.
· Progressive and transfer die technology.
· CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Wire EDM, Spark EDM, Surface Grinding, Cylindrical Grinding.
· CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Creo).
· GD&T interpretation.
· Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
· TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen.
· Tool steel selection and heat treatment knowledge.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
