Summary:
UST is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Cable & Harness Design to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, developing, and validating electrical cable assemblies and wire harnesses for complex electromechanical systems. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective wiring solutions.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop cable assemblies and wire harnesses based on customer and project requirements.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and cable routing documentation.
- Select appropriate wires, connectors, terminals, protective coverings, and other electrical components.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and design change records.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with mechanical, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure seamless product development.
- Support prototype builds, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Review and optimize designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve engineering and production issues.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in cable and wire harness design.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring practices, and cable routing principles.
- Experience with cable/harness design tools such as Zuken E3, Siemens Capital, CATIA Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of connector selection, wire sizing, insulation materials, shielding, and grounding techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards and quality requirements applicable to cable and harness design.
- Proficiency in preparing engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
