Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Finance and Underwriting Analyst to review financial documents, assess business performance, and support funding and risk evaluation processes. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, cash flow analysis, and financial documentation. The role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions based on financial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze bank statements, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial documents.
- Assess business cash flows, revenue trends, and overall financial health.
- Verify the accuracy, completeness, and authenticity of submitted documents.
- Identify financial risks, inconsistencies, and potential red flags during the review process.
- Maintain and reconcile financial records and reports as required.
- Prepare underwriting notes, findings, and recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely processing of applications and requests.
- Generate reports and maintain accurate records of financial assessments and transactions.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support day-to-day accounting activities and financial data management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting, financial analysis, underwriting, lending, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Ability to analyze bank statements, cash flow patterns, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
- Understanding of financial risk assessment and business performance evaluation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including the use of formulas and financial reporting functions.
- Familiarity with financial documentation, reconciliations, and bookkeeping practices.
- Experience working with CRM systems, financial software, or loan/funding management platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with US business financial documents and financial review processes is an added advantage.
