Senior Menswear Knitwear Designer
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Menswear Knitwear Designer with strong expertise in fully fashioned knitwear and apparel graphics for jersey products. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in fast fashion or high-street retail, with the ability to convert global trends into commercially successful products across knitwear, T-shirts, polos, and sweatshirts.
Key Responsibilities
Trend Research & Product Direction
Research global fashion, streetwear, runway, social media, and competitor trends.
Develop seasonal concepts, colour stories, mood boards, and commercial product ranges.
Present design concepts and seasonal collections to cross-functional teams.
React quickly to market trends and trading performance to deliver fast-track collections.
Knitwear & Apparel Design
Design menswear knitwear including sweaters, pullovers, cardigans, and fine-gauge styles.
Design jersey products including T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, and loungewear.
Develop commercially viable products while maintaining target cost and margin.
Work on garment fit, silhouette development, stitch structures, knit gauges, and yarn selection.
Graphic Design
Create original placement prints, typography, embroidery artwork, engineered graphics, and all-over prints.
Develop graphics suitable for screen printing, puff print, high-density print, flock, digital print, yarn-dyed stripes, and jacquard applications.
Prepare production-ready artwork with Pantone references, print specifications, and factory-ready files.
Product Development & Vendor Coordination
Prepare detailed tech packs with garment construction and graphic specifications.
Coordinate with factories and suppliers to ensure sample accuracy and timely development.
Minimize development timelines by providing clear technical documentation.
Work closely with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to achieve speed-to-market.
Candidate Profile
- 5-8+ years of experience in Menswear Design, preferably with a fast fashion brand, high-street retailer, buying house, exporter, or apparel manufacturer.
- Strong portfolio covering both knitwear design and graphic design for menswear.
- Solid understanding of knit construction, yarns, gauges, garment costing, and commercial product development.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience working with PLM/PDM systems and technical product documentation.
- Excellent knowledge of garment construction, print techniques, and apparel manufacturing processes.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to design according to target price points.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with buying, merchandising, sourcing, and production teams.
