Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Lab Assistant to support science teachers in the smooth operation of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology laboratories. The Lab Assistant will ensure all lab equipment, chemicals, and materials are prepared, maintained, and used safely during practical sessions. This role is essential in fostering a safe, organised, and efficient lab learning environment for students of Grades 6 to 12.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in setting up and dismantling experiments and practical activities for science classes.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and biological specimens.
- Calibrate and clean laboratory instruments regularly.
- Provide technical support to teachers and students during laboratory sessions.
- Label, organise, and store laboratory apparatus systematically.
- Follow safety protocols and assist in implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the lab at all times.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment or potential hazards to the lab in-charge or school management.
- Assist in practical exam setup and support, including internal assessments and board practicals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Educational Qualification:
- Minimum 10+2 with Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
- Diploma or Certification in Lab Technology – preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a similar role in a school or educational institution preferred.
- Skills:
- Familiarity with basic science lab equipment and experiment procedures.
- Awareness of laboratory safety guidelines and chemical handling practices.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
