- Inspecting and maintaining fire extinguishers: Ensure that fire extinguishers are up to code, not expired, and functioning properly. This includes performing hydrostatic tests and dismantling extinguishers to check for defects.
- Recharging and cleaning extinguishers: Refill extinguishers with patented solutions and clean them.
- Installing and repairing fire extinguishers: Install fire extinguishers in new or renovated facilities, and repair cabinets or brackets that hold them.
- Training building occupants: Teach building occupants how to use fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment.
- Hydrant maintenance Inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire hydrants to ensure they are available and fit for purpose
- Reporting defects Reporting defects to the Water Manager in line with water policy guidelines
- Emergency response Responding to emergency reports, such as damage from leakage or vandalism, and applying immediate fixes
- Record keeping Completing reports on the results of inspections and assisting with the compilation of hydrant records
