Horticulture Specialist Position Overview
The Horticulture Specialist will design, cultivate, and maintain the school grounds to create a safe, vibrant, and educational outdoor environment. This role focuses on sustainable landscaping, managing campus flora, integrating the grounds with the school curriculum, and ensuring the aesthetic and functional upkeep of the property.
Responsibilities
- Campus Landscaping: Plan and execute seasonal planting, lawn care, tree pruning, and shrub maintenance across the area.
- Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with teachers to develop and maintain outdoor classrooms, botanical learning zones, and student-led gardens.
- Resource Management: Oversee irrigation systems, soil health, composting, and eco-friendly pest/weed management.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all campus vegetation, walkways, and play areas are free from hazards, toxic plants, and overgrowth.
- Team Leadership: Supervise a small team of groundskeepers or external landscaping contractors.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Botany, or Landscape Management.
- Experience: 3–5 years of professional landscaping experience, preferably in institutional, educational, or large estate environments.
- Knowledge: Expertise in local flora, seasonal climate adaptations, and sustainable organic gardening techniques.
- Soft Skills: Strong project management abilities, physical stamina, and excellent communication skills for engaging with students and faculty.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site role requiring extensive outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
