About the Role:
The Electricity & Renewables Division at TERI is seeking an early-career professional with a Master's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, or Geospatial Technologies to support renewable energy resource assessment and spatial planning studies. The selected candidate will contribute to national, state, and city-level assessments of renewable energy potential and allied power sector related work using advanced geospatial tools, remote sensing datasets, and spatial modelling techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct GIS-based renewable energy resource assessments for solar PV (ground-mounted, rooftop, floating, and agrivoltaics etc.), wind energy (large-scale and small wind), and other emerging renewable energy technologies.
- Develop geospatial methodologies for estimating renewable energy potential at national, state, district, city, and site scales.
- Perform land suitability, constraint mapping, and multi-criteria spatial analysis for renewable energy planning and deployment.
- Develop and maintain geospatial databases by integrating satellite imagery, land-use/land-cover data, DEMs, weather datasets, infrastructure layers, environmental datasets, and other spatial information.
- Analyse rooftop availability, water bodies, transmission infrastructure, and other spatial datasets to identify opportunities for renewable energy deployment.
- Prepare high-quality thematic maps, web maps, geospatial visualisations, dashboards, and technical outputs for research studies, consultancy projects, and stakeholder engagement.
- Support the development of GIS-based decision-support tools, renewable energy atlases, and spatial planning frameworks.
- Contribute to technical reports, research papers, policy briefs, project proposals, conference papers, and presentations.
