Gappeo is hiring a Backend Developer to join our engineering team. This is a strong opportunity for freshers and early-career developers (0–1 year experience) who want to build real backend systems powering a live recruitment and hiring platform. If you've worked with Python, are curious about FastAPI, and want to understand how production APIs are designed, built, and maintained, this role is for you.
About the Role
As a Backend Developer at Gappeo, you will work alongside senior backend engineers to build, maintain, and optimize the APIs and services that power our platform. You'll get hands-on exposure to REST API design, debugging production issues, working with databases, and collaborating directly with frontend developers — exactly the kind of practical experience that turns a fresher into a confident backend engineer.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain backend APIs using Python and FastAPI
- Maintain and improve existing backend services
- Debug issues and optimize application performance
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers to design clean API contracts
- Write clean, well-documented, testable backend code
- Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices
What We're Looking For
- Working knowledge of Python (data structures, OOP basics, scripting)
- Familiarity with FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks (Flask/Django also welcomed)
- Understanding of REST API concepts (HTTP methods, status codes, request/response design)
- Basic Git version control skills (clone, commit, branch, merge, pull requests)
- A Computer Science degree, related field, or equivalent self-taught/project experience
- 0–1 year of professional experience — freshers are strongly encouraged to apply
