Job Title: Purchase Manager (Construction)Core Objective
To lead the procurement of materials, equipment, and services while optimizing costs, ensuring quality compliance, and maintaining project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify and vet suppliers for raw materials (steel, cement, aggregates), MEP equipment, and subcontractors.
- Cost Management: Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and contracts to meet or exceed budgetary targets.
- Supply Chain Oversight: Coordinate logistics to ensure "Just-in-Time" delivery to active construction sites.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Site Engineers to ensure all materials meet project specifications and ASTM/ISO standards.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels and wastage to prevent shortages or over-ordering.
- Risk Management: Evaluate market trends (e.g., fluctuating commodity prices) and develop contingency plans.
Technical Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- Experience: 5–10 years in construction procurement; deep knowledge of construction materials and market rates.
- Software: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or Odoo) and MS Excel.
Essential Skills
- Contract Negotiation: Expertise in FIDIC or local construction contract standards.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to perform "Make vs. Buy" and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses.
- Vendor Management: Strong relationship-building and performance-tracking skills.
- Legal Knowledge: Understanding of VAT/GST, import duties, and construction labor laws.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Cost Savings: Percentage reduction in procurement spend against budget.
- Lead Time: Average time from Purchase Requisition (PR) to on-site delivery.
- Supplier Compliance: Percentage of deliveries meeting quality and timeline benchmarks.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
