Job Overview
The Associate – Security Research & Innovation supports the organization's cybersecurity and data protection initiatives through technical research, malware and threat analysis, and the development of AI-assisted tools and automation capabilities that enhance internal efficiency and knowledge sharing. The role contributes to the preparation of technical advisories, training materials, and research resources for members, partner organizations, and industry stakeholders.
The position plays an active role in delivering workshops, hands-on training, cybersecurity events, and community engagement programs focused on topics such as ransomware, malware analysis, digital forensics, and emerging technologies. Through collaboration with internal teams and external experts, the Associate – Security Research and Innovation help strengthen cybersecurity awareness, foster professional development, and support the organization's mission of promoting responsible cybersecurity practices and data protection across the ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, malware, ransomware trends, digital forensics, and adversary techniques to support the organization's cybersecurity and data protection initiatives.
Perform malware analysis, reverse engineering, and technical investigations using industry-standard tools and methodologies to understand threats and defensive considerations.
Monitor threat intelligence sources, track indicators of compromise (IOCs), and contribute to technical advisories, awareness notes, and research publications for members and stakeholders.
Prepare technical reports, white papers, research summaries, and guidance documents to support internal programs and community initiatives.
Design, develop, and maintain AI-assisted research tools, automation frameworks, and knowledge-management capabilities to improve internal efficiency and support member services.
Evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including Generative AI and automation techniques, to enhance cybersecurity research, analysis, and educational initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams, academic institutions, industry experts, and external stakeholders on research projects, technical initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities.
Contribute to the development of cybersecurity methodologies, reference frameworks, and best practices that promote secure and responsible use of technology.
Design and deliver technical workshops, training programs, webinars, and hands-on learning sessions on topics including malware, ransomware, digital forensics, threat intelligence, and secure practices.
Support the design and organization of cybersecurity events, hackathons, Capture-the-Flag (CTF) exercises, and community engagement programs to promote awareness and professional development.
Develop technical content, lab environments, demonstrations, and educational materials for members, partner organizations, and external audiences.
Assist in evaluating cybersecurity tools, technologies, and research methodologies to identify opportunities for improving organizational capabilities and member services.
Contribute to responsible cybersecurity research and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational guidelines.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.
6 months to 1 year of experience, academic project, or hands-on experience in cybersecurity, malware analysis, digital forensics, or related areas.
Knowledge of operating system internals, security architectures, and common attack and defense techniques.
Proficiency in Python or other scripting/programming languages.
Familiarity with reverse engineering and analysis tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra, WinDbg, Volatility).
Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills
Experience in malware analysis, ransomware research, DFIR, or threat intelligence.
Knowledge of AI-assisted security workflows, Generative AI, LLMs, or automation frameworks.
Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, memory forensics, and virtualization environments.
Experience developing scripts or internal research tools.
Ability to deliver technical workshops, training programs, or create educational content.
Relevant certifications (e.g., GREM, GCFA, GCTI, OSCP, CISSP, CEH) are an advantage.
