Join Deloitte’s Office of General Counsel and support legal matters that affect Deloitte US India Offices. As a Senior Attorney, Legal USI, you will advise on labor and employment matters, commercial contracts, investigations, regulatory compliance, and corporate legal issues. You will work with business and legal stakeholders to identify risk, interpret legal requirements, and provide practical guidance aligned to business priorities. This role offers the opportunity to support complex matters across multiple jurisdictions in India.
Work you'll do
As a Specialist Deputy Manager, Legal USI on the Office of General Counsel team, you will be responsible for:
- Provide legal analysis and advice in connection with commercial transactions, company laws, contracts, labor and employment laws, talent (HR) investigations, and regulatory compliances.
- Research, review, and analyse legal issues; draft agreements, legal memos, summaries, and statutory filings.
- Support company transactions and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide legal analyses to local and overseas stakeholders on Indian labour and employment matters, including Talent (HR) investigations, employment relations, ICC, litigations, policies, benefit programs
- Support on contract labour governance, drafting legal contracts and negotiating the terms with external vendors
- Regularly interact with Indian statutory authorities, as needed, including Software Technology Parks of India, Registrar of Companies, Company Law Board, and other applicable government departments and quasi-judicial bodies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes and communicate business implications to management.
- Interact with US Legal Team on India related legal and compliance questions
- Identify legal and risk issues early and recommend practical solutions
- Manage routine legal matters independently with minimal support.
- Perform other related legal duties as assigned.
- Think strategically and creatively, identify and resolve legal issues to conclusion, ability to gain and possess knowledge of the business.
The team
Office of General Counsel is responsible for managing the Deloitte US India Offices legal affairs as they relate to firm governance, mergers & acquisitions, contracts, commercial transactions, labor and employment, litigation and regulatory matters, legal risks, and other legal matters.
Location: Hyderabad or Gurgaon
Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited law school in India or another common law jurisdiction
- 11-12 years of legal experience, including experience in labor and employment, talent (HR) investigations, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance
- Experience drafting and reviewing master service agreements, commercial agreements, legal memoranda, summaries, and statutory filings
- Experience advising stakeholders on Indian labor and employment matters, employment relations, and internal investigations
- Experience supporting company law, corporate compliance, and interactions with statutory or regulatory authorities in India
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
- Experience with corporate secretarial matters and company law
- Experience providing legal advice across employment, corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters
- Experience supporting vendor contracting and contract labor governance
