Job Summary
The Senior Quality Manager will be responsible for leading the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions of the forging plant, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications, statutory requirements, and international quality standards. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, process capability enhancement, supplier quality, and compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001:2015, and customer-specific requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor the plant's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001:2015, customer requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
- Lead all quality assurance and quality control activities across Raw Material Inspection, In-Process Inspection, Final Inspection, and Dispatch Quality.
- Establish quality objectives, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Process Quality Control
- Monitor quality performance throughout Forging, Trimming, Shot Blasting, Heat Treatment, Machining, Grinding, and Dispatch processes.
- Ensure compliance with Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor process capability (Cp/Cpk) and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Drive defect reduction and process optimization using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Customer Quality
- Handle customer complaints and ensure timely resolution through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Lead 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, and Problem-Solving activities.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through quality performance reviews.
- Coordinate customer audits and ensure closure of audit observations.
Supplier Quality
- Develop supplier quality standards and monitor supplier performance.
- Conduct supplier audits and evaluate supplier capability.
- Ensure incoming raw materials and outsourced processes meet quality specifications.
- Drive supplier improvement initiatives.
Laboratory & Testing
- Supervise metallurgical laboratory activities including:
- Hardness Testing
- Chemical Analysis
- Microstructure Examination
- Mechanical Testing
- Dimensional Inspection
- Calibration Management
- Ensure calibration of all measuring and testing equipment as per schedule.
Audit & Compliance
- Plan and conduct Internal Quality Audits.
- Coordinate External Audits, Customer Audits, and Certification Audits.
- Ensure timely closure of NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
- Maintain quality documentation and records.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Department team.
- Conduct training on quality tools, inspection techniques, and customer requirements.
- Establish performance goals and review team performance.
- Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Reduce internal rejection, customer complaints, and rework costs.
- Improve First Pass Yield (FPY), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Drive digitalization of quality records and reporting where applicable.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Forging Manufacturing Processes.
- Expertise in IATF 16949 and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Advanced knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, and Core Quality Tools.
- Hands-on experience in Metallurgy, Heat Treatment, and Mechanical Testing.
- Proficiency in GD&T, Engineering Drawings, and Dimensional Measurement.
- Knowledge of calibration systems and laboratory quality standards.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
