VIKGOL is looking for a Lead Firmware Engineer who can own the embedded intelligence behind our connected devices and help build reliable firmware that operates seamlessly in real-world environments.
Role Overview
As a Lead Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling firmware architecture for our sensor-driven hardware platform.
You will work closely with hardware, cloud, mobile, AI, and product teams to build firmware that is reliable, power-efficient, secure, and production-ready.
This role is ideal for someone who has built and shipped embedded systems at scale and enjoys solving complex real-time engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable embedded firmware using Embedded C/C++
- Architect and optimize RTOS-based firmware systems
- Build firmware solutions for real-time sensor processing and device communication
- Develop and maintain communication protocols including:
- I2C
- SPI
- UART
- BLE
- Design robust OTA firmware update systems with rollback and recovery mechanisms
- Optimize power consumption, battery management, and device reliability
- Work on sensor integration and hardware-software interaction
- Build firmware testing frameworks including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
- Debug complex hardware and firmware issues in production environments
- Establish firmware engineering practices, coding standards, and review processes
- Mentor firmware engineers and contribute to technical direction
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field from a Tier 1 institute (IIT, BITS Pilani, top NITs, or equivalent)
- 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware development
- Strong programming experience in Embedded C and C++
- Hands-on experience with RTOS-based systems
- Strong understanding of embedded communication protocols:
- I2C
- SPI
- UART
- BLE
- Experience designing OTA update systems for connected devices
- Strong understanding of:
- Microcontrollers
- Sensor interfaces
- Power management
- Bootloaders
- Embedded debugging
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building consumer electronics, wearables, IoT, or connected devices
- Experience with battery-powered devices
- Experience with BLE-enabled products
- Experience with cloud-connected hardware platforms
- Experience leading or mentoring firmware teams
- Startup or fast-paced product development experience
