Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Observatory Educator who is passionate about astronomy, space science, and scientific exploration. The role involves conducting observatory sessions, guiding students during telescope observations, delivering astronomy-based educational programs, and supporting space science activities at our lab and partner institutions.
Since observational activities may depend on celestial events and sky conditions, the role requires flexibility for late-night or early-morning observatory visits and astronomy sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct astronomy and space science sessions for students and visitors.
- Guide participants during telescope observations and observatory activities.
- Explain concepts related to celestial bodies, constellations, planetary science, and space technology in an engaging manner.
- Assist in organizing sky-watch events, workshops, science camps, and educational seminars.
- Support observatory setup, telescope handling, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Create interactive learning experiences related to astronomy and space exploration.
- Coordinate with schools, universities, and educational institutions for science outreach programs.
- Stay updated with recent developments in astronomy, astrophysics, and space technology.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Astronomy, Space Science, Astrophysics, or related science fields.
- Strong interest in astronomy, celestial observation, and space technology.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable interacting with students, educators, and science enthusiasts.
- Willingness to work flexible hours depending on observatory schedules and astronomical events.
- Prior experience in teaching, science communication, or observatory activities will be an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of celestial bodies, constellations, and observational astronomy.
- Basic understanding of telescopes and astronomical instruments.
- Passion for science education and public engagement.
- Ability to conduct interactive and practical learning sessions.
- Team coordination and event management skills.
Work Schedule
- Availability for late-night or early-morning lab/observatory visits when required.
