Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Scala + Akka Backend Engineer to join a 12-month remote project. The ideal candidate should have strong backend development experience with Scala, Akka, Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and AWS.
This role requires candidates who can independently understand existing systems, explain their technical experience clearly, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Scala and Akka.
- Build and maintain Akka Actors, Akka Streams, Akka HTTP, and Akka Persistence based solutions.
- Develop and enhance Java 8+ applications and Spring Boot microservices.
- Design and implement secure, scalable REST APIs and backend services.
- Work with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB for data storage and persistence.
- Deploy and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or Azure DevOps.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and solution design activities.
Must-Have Skills
- 12+ years of overall software development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of Java 8+ development experience.
- 4+ years of Scala development experience.
- 2+ years of Akka experience, including:
- Akka Actors
- Akka Streams
- Akka HTTP
- Akka Persistence
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS.
- Experience with Jenkins and/or Azure DevOps CI/CD.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
