Designation: Senior Engineer– Production (Air Cooler Manufacturing)
Location: Manufacturing Facility, Greater Noida
Industry: Consumer Durables / Home Appliances (Air Coolers)
Education: B.Tech / B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Electrical Engineering
Experience: Sr. Engineer: 6–10 years proven experience supervising multi-line assembly operations and contractual workforces.
Reporting To: Production Head/Plant Head
Salary:30k to 95k
Role Purpose:
Lead end-to-end shop floor operations across plastic components preparation, sub-assemblies (motor mounting, pump harness, distributor trays, louvers), and final cooler assembly. This role is responsible for meeting daily/monthly volume targets, maximizing line throughput (OEE and Takt compliance), controlling conversion costs, and enforcing strict 5S and safety protocols in a high-volume seasonal assembly environment.
Core Competencies: Line balancing, Takt time calculation, OEE measurement, Kaizen, SMED, 5S, BOM verification, and basic automation/pneumatics
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution
· Execute the daily and weekly production plans aligned with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to support peak-season demands.
· Balance assembly lines using line-balancing techniques to eliminate bottlenecks at sub-assembly and final packing.
· Ensure consistent supply and synchronization between feed lines (injection/blow molding, wiring harnesses, and water distributor assemblies) and main conveyor assembly lines.
Shop Floor Resource & Manpower Management
· Manage shift scheduling, line allotment, and optimal deployment of on-roll and contractual manpower.
· Formulate and implement multi-skilling matrices for operators across critical stations (motor mounting, electrical terminal crimping, water piping fitment, cosmetic panel snaps).
· Drive training programs on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and ergonomic handling to avoid component damage.
Operational Efficiency & Cost Control
· Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and line balancing efficiency to minimize micro-stoppages and takt-time deviations.
· Control shop floor scrap, trim waste, damaged moldings, and assembly line component rejection.
· Coordinate with Tooling and Maintenance for Quick Die Changeovers (SMED) and preventive maintenance of line equipment (screw runners, conveyor systems, and ultrasonic welders, packaging strapping tools).
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Collaborate with Quality Control (QC) to resolve in-process defects, line-stoppages, and implement Poka-Yoke (mistake-proofing) at critical assembly stages.
· Partner with Materials/Warehouse to ensure timely kit issuance (BOM adherence) and minimize Line Stoppage Hours due to part shortages.
· Work with Manufacturing Engineering / NPD during pilot runs, tool trials, engineering change notices (ECN), and ramp-up of new cooler models.
EHS, 5S & Continuous Improvement
· Enforce shop floor safety standards, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and ergonomic material handling practices.
· Lead daily Tier-1/Tier-2 Gemba meetings, Kaizen drives, and 5S workplace management.
