Job Summary
The Production Merchandiser – Supplier Follow-up is responsible for coordinating with fabric, trims, accessories, and packaging suppliers to ensure all materials are delivered according to the production schedule. The role involves monitoring supplier performance, following up on purchase orders, resolving delivery issues, and ensuring uninterrupted production through timely material availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up with fabric, trims, accessories, labels, packaging, and embellishment suppliers on purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier production schedules and confirm delivery commitments.
- Ensure all raw materials are delivered according to the Time and Action (T&A) calendar.
- Coordinate with the sourcing and procurement teams regarding order placement and supplier allocation.
- Track material dispatches, transit status, and receipt at the factory.
- Communicate delivery updates to merchandising, planning, warehouse, and production teams.
- Escalate potential delays and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
- Verify supplier documents, including invoices, packing lists, delivery challans, and test reports.
- Coordinate fabric and trim approvals before bulk production.
- Follow up on lab dips, strike-offs, handloom approvals, and sample submissions.
- Ensure suppliers comply with buyer quality standards and technical specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier commitments, deliveries, and pending materials.
- Support production planning by providing material availability updates.
- Coordinate replacement of rejected or damaged materials with suppliers.
- Participate in supplier performance evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth communication and timely issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Textile Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in garment merchandising, sourcing, procurement, or supplier coordination.
- Knowledge of garment manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
